Dr. Schlosser grew up in Tucson, Arizona. He attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he earned a bachelors of science in chemical engineering. He went on to study medicine at the Yale University School of Medicine. During medical school he spent a year as a Howard Hughes Fellow studying the use of functional imaging in neurosurgical procedures. After medical school he completed internship in General Surgery at The Johns Hopkins University, followed by residency in Neurosurgery, also at Johns Hopkins.

 

After completing residency he spent an additional year at Johns Hopkins as an instructor of neurosurgery, obtaining advance specialty training in neuro-oncology (brain tumors) and complex spine. Dr. Schlosser is Board Certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery and also a Fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons.

 

He currently practices general neurosurgery in Nashville at Centennial Medical Center where he serves as the Chairmen of the Department of Surgery, and Chairmen of the Neuro-Spine Committee.

 

Dr. Schlosser specializes in minimally invasive spine procedures, including the X-STOP Spacer, which is used to treat lumbar spinal stenosis and cervical artificial disc replacement, which is an alternative to fusion for patients with cervical disc disease.  He also specializes in the correction of spinal deformity, including scoliosis correction.
